In August 2020 the Zonta Club of Sydney held our delayed AGM. We had delayed the meeting in the hope that we could hold a face to face meeting, however due to ongoing issues with Covid19 and out of general caution we held our meeting via Zoom.
The Committee reports were all tabled, and unfortunately due to Covid19 and other aspects out of the clubs control it was noted our events and fundraising have been somewhat reduced over the past year. We did however note our very successful Centenary of Zonta function, as well as our ongoing commitment to advocacy and particularly our clubs place in the Keeping Women Out of Prison coalition. Of particular note is the success of our advocacy committee in having our motion at District Conference supported and passed, leading to Keeping Women Out of Prison and support for organisations assisting women affected by the criminal justice system becoming a District 24 project for the coming biennium.
The other major part of our AGM was election of the new Board and office bearers. Congratulations and thanks to all members who stood for election. Our incoming Board will be –
President – Joanna Quinn
Vice President – Christine Bishop
Secretary – Susan Copeland
Treasurer – Judy Williams
Director – Lyndell Evans
Director – Carole Molyneux
Director – Dr Kerrie Bigsworth (immediate past president)
Director – Nerida Croker
We look forward to another year of working together to provide assistance to women across our region and to continue to support the projects and ideals of Zonta International.
