Well what a night we had celebrating our 60th birthday! On Saturday 23rd May members and guests of the Zonta Club of Sydney gathered at the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel to raise a toast to one of the oldest Zonta clubs in Australia (we were pipped at the post by Zonta Club of Melbourne by only a few days to the title of first Australian club) and to meet with old and new friends.
With a dress code of “Sparkle like a diamond” we certainly looked the part – fitting for what was really a Diamond Jubilee!
Highlights of the night included messages of support from Charter Member Pauline Griffin AM and our Governor General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC by video, as well as speeches from some of our recent award winners, including Sally Hurst and Aarati Jha.
Our keynote speaker was Professor Gabrielle Casper who spoke wonderfully and left us a message of finding our tribe. And we were so pleased to welcome many members of the Zonta community as well as a number of our local and federal MPs, amongst many other distinguished guests.
