The Zonta Club of Sydney supports a number of different projects, all of which assist women and girls across Sydney and the world.
We provide support for Lou’s Place, which is women’s day refuge. We pack toiletry packs from items donated by club members and other organisations, as well as providing items such as sanitary items, underwear, warm clothing and monetary donations.
In 2018-2019 we provided funding for 530 breast care cushions for breast surgery patients at the Mater Hospital Crows Nest.
We also packed 600 birthing kits in 2019 for delivering mothers in developing countries. Further information about the birthing kit program which is supported by Zonta clubs across Australia can be found here
And in 2019 the Zonta Club of Sydney were successful in having our Keeping Women out of Prison project chosen as the District service project for the next two years. Clubs can choose their own projects within this, such as supporting Shine for Kids, the Miranda Project or any other assistance to keep women out of prison, or to support those who have been affected by the justice system.
In 2020 we started sponsoring a student with the Smith Family Learning for Life Program. This program provides support for disadvantaged children. We look forward to following our young student on her education journey.
