Each year the Zonta Club of Sydney presents an award to a nursing student from UTS. On 24 January 2019, Anita Fowler received her Zonta Club of Sydney award as part of the National Council of Women’s Australia Day lunch at NSW Parliament House.
After an early career as a physiotherapist, experience as a foster carer, and travel in Nepal, Anita has been inspired by the impact good midwifery care has upon women’s capacity for empowerment, especially during pregnancy, childbirth, and transitioning into parenthood. So she has now chosen to study for her B. Midwifery at UTS. Anita is passionate about enabling women to realise their potential despite disadvantage – a very worthy winner of this year’s Zonta award.
