On the 8th March 2019 the Zonta Club of Sydney hosted a breakfast for International Women’s Day. Club members enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Pier 8 cafe in Walsh Bay, while listening to our guest speaker, Sophie Bejok.
Sophie arrived in Australia 2018 after fleeing Syria with her family. She spoke of leaving Syria and becoming stranded first in Lebanon, before being able to travel to Australia. After only being in Australia for six months, she started the Laziz Project, which allows women from newly arrived backgrounds to gain skills and meet new people through a cooking program.
