Applications are now open for the Young Women in Public Affairs Award for 2022.
Each year, Zonta clubs across District 24 receive applications from a wonderful array of young women (aged 16- 19) for the annual Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) award. You can read about the 2021 International awardees in the bios below – and we especially congratulate Eloise Amirtharajah who was the District 23 (Victoria, Australia) awardee and was also successful at the International level.
Women continue to be under represented in positions across all areas of government and other areas of political life. Zonta offers the YWPA awards as they believe that young women are the key to women’s advancement in the field of public service. The award recognizes young women, ages 16-19, for demonstrating leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life.
Established in 1990, Zonta has awarded 1013 awards totalling US$1,207,250 to 851 young women from 58 countries.
The Zonta Club of Sydney accepts applications from any young women aged between 16- 19 years either living or studying/working within inner Sydney. If successful at our club level, the applicant then progresses to District 24, and on to the International award if awarded the District prize. District recipients receive US$1,500, and 10 international recipients are selected from the district/region recipients to receive awards of US$5,000 each.
