On Saturday 27th October members of the Zonta Club of Sydney, along with guests and friends, took part in “The Number Games” – also known as an observation and sporting challenge, to raise funds towards our Birthing Kit project.
Our club member Johanna kindly opened her house to the club members, and set difficult and intriguing challenges, both physical and mental, for club members to complete in the quest for prizes and glory.
As Johanna wrote in summing up the day –
“High Five to all participants who successfully completed the Number Games held last Saturday in Beacon Hill! 4 teams of 18 members, family and friends and one dog walked the 8000 steps with challenges and activities.
7 got lost but all were found. We counted 6 stars and 42 steps, reached 492 feet above sea level and learnt that Zonta International has 29,000 members in 63 countries. Natasha’s team scored a touch in bocce, Sharon came first in the hockey slalom and Joanna, our golf champion, hit a hole in two.
Grazie mille (thank you 1000 times) to our participants, coaches and timekeepers, those who brought and prepared delicious food, drink and prizes; and those who couldn’t join us for the games but made donations!!”
The funds raised on the day exceeded our target, and will fund over 400 birthing kits to be packed and provided for women in developing countries.
