Tomorrow marks the first day of the 16 Days of Activism and is Orange Day. The Zonta Club of Sydney will be joining Zontians around the world, as well as many other organisations and individuals in raising our voices and sharing information to work together to end gender based violence. This year, our focus is on the Zonta International project to End Child Marriage.
Child Marriage is a form of Violence Against Women. When girls are married they are more like to leave school, be unable to complete education, and then may have fewer opportunities for jobs or economic security. The leading cause of death globally for girls aged 15-19 is complications in pregnancy and childbirth. Child marriage is happening in countries across the globe, including in developed countries like Australia, the US and the UK.
So wear orange on the 25th November in support of Orange Day and join us in ending Violence Against Women and working towards Ending Child Marriage.
