The Zonta Club of Sydney sponsors an annual prize at the Sydney Eisteddfod in the name of our Charter Member Elizabeth Todd. Elizabeth Todd was a charter member of the Zonta Club of Sydney and the first female Head of Vocal Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium.
Each year the prize is awarded in the Classical Singing – Operatic Voice event for participants aged 16 – 20 years. This year, the winner was Isabella (Bella) Hincksman, who was also successful in 2023. We are excited to report that Isabella’s potential has been recognised through a scholarship from the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia to study for a Bachelor of Music, beginning this August. We hope to have Isabella back in Sydney next southern winter for a performance in her study break – so watch this space and perhaps keep the third Wednesday in June free to join what will be an excellent performance! And of course we wish Bella all the very best in her studies and her career.
In the meantime, Club members recently celebrated Bella’s success with Sydney Eisteddfod chair, Max Holzner, at the Sydney Conservatorium.
