On Wednesday 3 December 2025 the Zonta Club of Sydney (ZCS) held its Christmas Party at the
Women’s College, University of Sydney, an inspirational location. Our Club has a long association
with the College through providing scholarships to students pursuing a degree in a non-traditional
women’s discipline.
Following drinks in the peaceful Menzies courtyard joined by the College Principal Dr Tiffany
Donnelly, members and guests enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner in the College Common Room.
Guests included District Governor Bernadine Guy, Area 1 Director Kaye Amies and members of sister
Zonta Clubs.
Further, we welcomed Julie Blewitt and Sandy Csenderits as our guests in recognition for making
about 500 breast care cushions for women recovering from surgery in the Mater Hospital, an
important Zonta project. The Club also inducted a new member, Dr Mary Coupland.
A highlight of the evening was the wonderful performance by soprano Izabelle Zammit accompanied
by Julia An on the piano. Izzy is the ZCS Elizabeth Todd Memorial Award winner of last year’s Sydney
Eisteddfod who further led us in carol singing.
The evening concluded with drawing the Christmas raffle prizes. Some great prizes were distributed
to happy recipients, such as gourmet hampers, tickets to the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the
Sydney Theatre Company, and half-dozens of quality wine. The raffle raised over $5000 with
proceeds going towards our Club’s projects including our scholarships and awards, support for
women affected by the criminal justice system and breast care cushions.
